Tilapia, cashew draw Vietnamese investors to Ghana

Vietnamese investors, currently on a one-week working visit to Ghana, are seeking to establish joint ventures with Ghanaian partners in the production of tilapia, cashew and rice.

At a Ghana-Vietnam Business Forum held in Accra, on Tuesday, Dao Manh Duc, who is the second Head of Trade, Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Nigeria, said the team is looking for opportunities in production, processing, and marketing of the said products.

Girl, 12, shot dead at Kunsuyoso - Ashanti region


A 12-year old girl only identified as Sala Seibu is reported to have been shot and killed by one Godfred Muhammed at Kunsuyoso a suburb of Mankranso in the Ashanti region.

The deceased was dumped in the bush after she was killed by the suspect. Her body was later retrieved from the bush after a thorough search by the people in the village, when she did not return from her dried fish selling. Doctors’ report confirmed that Sala was shot.

Chief vows to force UCC students to marry girls they impregnate


The Chief of Amamoma in the Central Region, Nana Yartel III, says any student of the University of Cape Coast who impregnates young ladies in the town will be forced to marry them.

According to him, some of the students who live in their community have resorted to impregnating young women in the town and abandoning them.

Fetish priest’s house gutted by fire


A four bed room house owned by the Akyem Kotoku Omankomfour (Chief Fetish Priest), Nana Kwame Appeatu, has been consumed by fire destroying properties worth several thousands of cedis.

The fire which started around 10 a.m, destroyed items including electric machines, phones, cloths, gold jewelry, mattress, and GHC1, 300 physical cash.

The World's most expensive player Paul Pogba was at the heart of Man U's fantastic display today as Jose Mourinho's men defeated EPL reigning champions Leicester city 4-1. Another Ghanaian pilgrim dies in Mecca


65 year old Ghanaian Muslim Alhaji Yakubu Zakari,  who made the trip for this year’s Hajj, has died.

This was confirmed in a statement signed and released by Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Deputy Communications Director of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG).

Mr Amin indicated that the PAOG was deeply saddened over “the passing of Alhaji Yakubu Zakari, who hails from the Volta Region and whose death occurred this afternoon [on Saturday September 24] in Makkah".

MD of Nursing school beats student for rejecting his love proposal

Police at the Tafo Moro Market in Kumasi in the Ashanti region have arrested the managing director of a nursing training school in the area after he allegedly assaulted one of his students for rejecting his love proposal.

According to the victim, the jealous director of the Nana Afia Kobi nursing training college, Owusu King, pounced on her after he spotted her talking to one of her male colleagues at school Friday night.

Ghana Institute of Journalism Bans Mini Skirt


The Ghana Institute of Journalism has banned students from wearing “mini-skirts and shorts” to lectures, management of the school has announced.

Speaking at the matriculation of fresh students for the 2016/2017 academic year, Rector of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Dr. Wilberforce Dzisah cautioned students to desist from the wearing of “mini-skirts and shorts” or face sanctions.

Electric shock kills kenkey seller at Akim Akroso


A 59-year-old kenkey seller at Akim Akroso, in the Eastern Region, has been electrocuted at her residence. The incident occurred when Agnes Enyonam, reportedly tried to switch off a faulty bulb on her compound.

Alexander Ghartey, a son of the deceased said the matter had been reported to Akroso Police. He said Kofi Arhin, a carpenter, who was passing by at the time of the incident, found Madam Enyonam’s hand glued to the switch on the wall.

Ghanaian musician Strongman has graduated from the University of Cape Coast.

The rapper said goodbye to the school on Friday, September 23 after four years of studying Bachelor of Management Studies.

According to reports, Nana Kwesi Afram had gone to the river with 53-year-old Kwaku Donkor for spiritual cleansing when the incident occurred.

Samuel Eto'o dropped by Club over his Instagram post about not being respected 'because he's black'

Ghana Shea butter export reaches US$64 million


Export earnings from shea butter products last year reached US$64 million, up from US$52 million in 2014, a 23 percent growth over the previous year, according to the latest figures from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).

In 2014, the sector recorded a growth rate of about 100 percent in export earnings when it increased from US$26 million in 2013 to US$52million in 2014. In the past five years, shea has been part of the top ten leading Non-Traditional export products from the country.

The figure is made up of 16 political party presidential aspirants and seven independent aspirants. They are to return the fully filled forms with a filing fee of GHC50,000 by September 29,2016.

Pastor sacks pregnant wife 3 months after wedding, blames her for low tithe and congregation in his church


Apostle Kenneth Kiarie of God’s Covenant Holiness Church in Mihang’o, Kayole in Nairobi ended his marriage of 87 days and sent his 23-year-old pregnant wife packing. They wedded in April this year.
The 30-year-old pastor told The Nairobian that he hurriedly married Marion Wagitu “because being a pastor, I needed a wife officially married in church." adding that he borrowed money to finance their wedding which has now left him in debt.

Female cop who shot dead unarmed black man charged with first degree manslaughter

Prosecutors in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have filed charges against he white female police officer, Betty Shelby, who shot and killed unarmed black man, 40-year-old Terence Crutcher who had his hands up on September 16. She has been charged with first-degree manslaughter. Dashcam and aerial footage of the shooting showed Crutcher walking away from Shelby with his arms up in the air. The Tulsa County District Attorney's office said Officer Shelby 'reacted unreasonably by escalating the situation' by 'becoming emotionally involved to the point that she overreacted.'

John Cena Reported Dead In Accident

John Cena has been reported dead. According to TMZ, John Cena died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morris town and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident.
