Hiplife artiste Barima Sidney has disclosed that the success story of hiplife music in Ghana cannot be complete without mentioning  the contribution of Omanhene Pozo, who was one of the pioneers of the genre.

According to him, Pozo was the only musician who did collaborations with veteran artistes like Awurama Badu, Alhaji Frimpong and C.K Man.
He noted that the defunct ‘Nananom’ group recently recorded new songs which was to be released soon to commemorate their 20 years anniversary since its inception in 1996. He  however added that due to the 2016 general elections, the group decided to release their new songs and video in 2017.

“We formed Nananom in 1996 and 2016 is exactly 20years and we wanted to commemorate the celebration with a release of the new song in 2017.”

According to Sidney, his former group member, Omanhene Pozo was recovering after he was discharged but unfortunately he was hit by the bad news of his death last Wednesday.

He said, “few months ago we all heard he (Omanhene Pozo) wasn’t feeling well. He had his surgery at the 37 Military Hospital which he was recovering after he was discharged until some few days ago he had another attack and was rushed to the hospital on Friday but unfortunately we heard the bad news that he is dead.

“Initially many reported that he had a brain tumour but that wasn’t the actual issue. According to the doctor it’s an infections in the brain but not a brain tumour and was given medications. Though he was down with stroke on one side of his body he was looking normal because of the physiotherapy he was going through.”
