SA police chokes Nigerian man to death during drug raid
A Nigerian man named Tochukwu Nnadi was choked to death by police in South Africa on Thursday December 29th after he was arrested for allegedly selling drugs. According to eyewitnesses, the man, popularly known as King Kingsley, was not struggling after he was arrested and handcuffed but one of the officers held onto his neck and squeezed tightly until blood started gushing out. Police make 50 arrests after raid on Nigerian drug ring in Vienna, Austria
Police in Vienna on
Thursday, December 29th, arrested 50 people in connection with a Nigerian drug
ring which operated in the Austrian capital. Investigators said they had been
on the trail of the gang for the past three years, and that in that time it has
netted a profit of over €6 million. 21 kilos of illegal drugs, mainly cocaine
and heroin, were seized during the raids.

Female sports journalist killed in front of her son by member of the Bahrain royal family
28-year-old, Eman Salehi, was shot dead in front of her 6-year-old son by a military man believed to be a member of Bahrain's Sunni royal family. Girl, 12, shot dead at Kunsuyoso - Ashanti region
A 12-year old girl only identified as Sala Seibu is reported to have been shot and killed by one Godfred Muhammed at Kunsuyoso a suburb of Mankranso in the Ashanti region.
The deceased was dumped in the bush after she was killed by the suspect. Her body was later retrieved from the bush after a thorough search by the people in the village, when she did not return from her dried fish selling. Doctors’ report confirmed that Sala was shot.

Chief vows to force UCC students to marry girls they impregnate
The Chief of Amamoma in the Central Region, Nana Yartel III, says any student of the University of Cape Coast who impregnates young ladies in the town will be forced to marry them.
According to him, some of the students who live in their community have resorted to impregnating young women in the town and abandoning them.

A four bed room house owned by the Akyem Kotoku Omankomfour (Chief Fetish Priest), Nana Kwame Appeatu, has been consumed by fire destroying properties worth several thousands of cedis.

Another Ghanaian pilgrim dies in Mecca
A 65 year old Ghanaian Muslim Alhaji Yakubu Zakari, who made the trip for this year’s Hajj, has died.
This was confirmed in a statement signed and released by Mohammed Amin Lamptey, Deputy Communications Director of the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG).
Mr Amin indicated that the PAOG was deeply saddened over “the passing of Alhaji Yakubu Zakari, who hails from the Volta Region and whose death occurred this afternoon [on Saturday September 24] in Makkah".

The Ghana Institute of Journalism has banned students from wearing “mini-skirts and shorts” to lectures, management of the school has announced.
Speaking at the matriculation of fresh students for the 2016/2017 academic year, Rector of the Ghana Institute of Journalism, Dr. Wilberforce Dzisah cautioned students to desist from the wearing of “mini-skirts and shorts” or face sanctions.
Electric shock kills kenkey seller at Akim Akroso
A 59-year-old kenkey seller at Akim Akroso, in the Eastern Region, has been electrocuted at her residence. The incident occurred when Agnes Enyonam, reportedly tried to switch off a faulty bulb on her compound.
Alexander Ghartey, a son of the deceased said the matter had been reported to Akroso Police. He said Kofi Arhin, a carpenter, who was passing by at the time of the incident, found Madam Enyonam’s hand glued to the switch on the wall.
