Ice Cube and other celebrities react as Black woman is killed in her own home by a police officer

Ice Cube and other celebrities react as Black woman is killed in her own home by a police officer
American actor, Ice Cube has reacted to the death of 28-year-old Atatiana Jefferson, who was shot dead in her own home by a police officer.

Ice Cube made reference to the similarity between the killing of Atatiana in her home by a White cop and the killing of Botham Jean in his home by a White cop. He shared a tweet stating that he hopes for a conviction without hugs from the judge this time around.

He was referring to the incident involving ex-police officer Amber Guyger, Botham Jean's shooter, who got a hug from the judge after she was sentenced for Jean's murder - an action that caused outrage.

Atatiana was fatally shot by a rookie cop in her own home early on Oct. 12. She was playing video games with her young nephew, 8, when they thought they heard a prowler outside. She walked to her bedroom window to look out and was shot dead by a Fort Worth, Texas cop, named Aaron Dean, 35.

According to reports, two cops responded to a non-emergency 911 call placed by next door neighbor James Smith, 62, who asked police to conduct a welfare check after noticing Atatiana Jefferson's front door was open at 2:30 a.m.

The two officers observed the open front door, but rather than knock or identify themselves as police officers, they conducted a search of the property at the back of the house.

During the search Atatiana looked through her bedroom window and Aaron Dean was startled. The cop, without identifying himself, shouted "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" before firing through the closed window, striking Jefferson and killing her.

Atatiana's father is comparing his daughter's wrongful death to Botham Jean, the 26-year-old account who was killed in his apartment by a cop. Atatiana Jefferson's father, Marquis Jefferson, said his daughter didn't have time to react to a cop's orders before she was shot through her bedroom window early Saturday morning.

He added that, unlike in Botham Jean's case, he wants no hugs. What he wants is justice for his daughter.

Marquis Jefferson said: "Unlike this Botham Jean, I don't want no hug."

He was referring to the hug Guyger received from trial judge Tammy Kemp after she was found guilty.

Marquis Jefferson added: "That's my one and only daughter. I will never forget that."

Meanwhile, it's been reported that Dean, 35, refused to cooperate with police investigators. He resigned from the Fort Worth police force on Monday morning and has now been charged with murder.
