In compliance with the Inspector-General of Police directive to mop up illegal and prohibited firearms in circulation across the country, the Niger State Police Command recovered the following firearms of different descriptions in Pandogari, Alawa, Sarkin Pawa, Lapai, Gawu Babangida and Mashegu.

? 30 Revolver short guns.
? 42 Locally made Single Barrel guns.
? 8 Locally made fabricated Dane guns.
? 7 Locally fabricated Revolver Single Barrel guns.
? 5 Magazine
? 81 7.62/51mm LAR Ammunition.
? 1 SMG rifle.
? 2 Mark 4 rifles.
? 2 Barreta rifles.
? 1 Tye-06 pistol.
? 1 Locally made AK47 rifle.
? 2 Pump Action guns.
? 1 G3 rifle.
? 1 Mark 5 rifle

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Muhammad Abubakar, said "henceforth, the Police task force will intensify massive cordon and search of premises, houses and stores on reasonable suspicion that are in custody of firearms or used for fabrication of firearms of any description and bring perpetrators to book in accordance with the provisions of the Robbery and Firearms Act Cap R.11 LFN 2004 and Firearms Act Cap F.28 LFN 2004 accordingly."
The Commissioner of Police, D. P Yakadi calls the good people of Niger State not to entertain fear when the task force commences the operation and seeks cooperation of all members of the public in this regard
