Nigerian man burnt to death in South Africa

A Nigerian man identified as Clement Ebuka Nwaogu of Njikaoku L.G.A Anambra State, has been killed in the town of Rustenburg, North West Province of South Africa yesterday April 22nd.
According to a statement by the Nigerian Community in South Africa, Clement was attacked by a mob of South African nationals who perceived his intonation as that of a Nigerian and descended on him like a common criminal with all sorts of dangerous weapons right in the presence of South African Police officers.

Eyewitnesses say while he was being attacked, he beckoned on the South African policemen to intervene and save him from the torture that eventually led to his untimely death but the police turned a blind eye while he was abused horribly.

When he could no longer persevere, he ran for his life but they chased him and when they caught up with him, they continued their assault on him. Not satisfied with the beating, they went ahead to pour gasoline on him and set him ablaze.

The mob thought he was dead and ceased fire, but some eye witnesses who felt he was still alive called on emergency personnels who took Mr Ebuka to the hospital. Unfortunately, he did not survive the nightmare; he died at Job Shimankane Hospital in Rustenburg.

He left behind his wife, Patricia Marivate Nwosu who is a South African and his two children who are 3 and 5 years old respectively. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
