5 Tallest People in Ghana

In the bible the Philistines Goliath stood out among his people because of his height, same has been the case with extremely tall people across the globe including Ghana. In this story we present to you five of the tallest people in Ghana.

 1 Ebenezer Mensah

Ebenezer Mensah
Ghanaian teenager Ebenezer Mensah, a student of Swedru School of Business, is 7 feet tall and has since become a celebrity on campus and beyond after his photos went viral on social media.

The first photo that drew the attention of Ghanaians on social media to him was a photo of him with his headmaster and his assistant.

While Ghanaian musician Patapaa praised Swedru for giving birth to the tallest man in Ghana and prayed that he is coached to be one of the best basketball players in the world, popular sports personality, Saddick Adams has also revealed he has received calls from three world class football coaches who are willing to sponsor the young man abroad and to teach him basketball all for free.

In 2018 when the lad clocked 16, Ghana’s telecommunications giant, MTN, donated a special bed and a mono desk to him.

They made the donation following a publication by Ghana’s leading newspaper Daily Graphic on the difficulties; Ebenezer Mensah goes through in accessing his bed and desk.

Talking about similar difficulties he encounters at home, Mensah said due to his height he always had to bend down before entering their house and rooms, adding that “I can't sleep on my own bed at home because it is too short for me, I always have to bend my legs while sleeping on the bed or rest on the upper frame up on the bed while my legs hang off the bed”.

He is the only child of his parents and lives with his mother at Ankyease, a suburb of Agona Swedru.

2 Derrick

Being a high school graduate, Derrick is a member of the Hoops Care International Basketball Team in Cape Coast. As a basketball player, he is said to be a quiet, reserved individual who rarely visits public places.

3 Jude Ogba

This young man called Jude became the side attraction at the 2019 Chale Wote festival due to his height. Chale Wote Festival is an annual event organized to display mind-blowing crafts and artistry at James Town in Accra.

Twitter handle user @delisworldwide who happens to be Ghana based Nigerian musician Delis posted the above picture on twitter and wrote: ‘’My younger brother became a celeb at chalewote today,’’

Delis said that his brother is around 6.10ft tall and people at the event were quick at crowning Jude, the tallest man seen so far at the event.

Young ladies were seen thronging the young lad for a photograph.

Celebritiesbuzz.com.gh recently reported that a 20-year-old man called Charles Sogli who hails from Ziope, in the Volta Region of Ghana could be the tallest man in Ghana as a result of his 8 feet height.  He is said to so far be the tallest in the region upon authentic checks.

According to Sir Polymath Agbanyo who interviewed him on Ho 92.5 FM, Charles is said to have dropped out of school because of unavailability of a suitable shoe size.

The extra-large slippers which he wears, was specially made for him at the cost of around GHC75 or 13 USD. He said to have enrolled as an apprentice in a welding workshop.

Another major challenge Charles is said to encounter is discomfort when he sleeps, since he’s longer than his bed.
