Homeless woman becomes an internet sensation after singing opera at Los Angeles Metro


A 52-year-old homeless woman identified as Emily Zamourka, has become an internet sensation after a video of her singing opera at the Los Angeles metro went viral after being shared by the Los Angeles Police Department. 

The blonde woman who was spotted in pigtails singing a beautiful rendition of a Puccini aria as she stood on a metro platform with a cart and several bags, was identified as a trained violinist and pianist that migrated to the United States from Russia when she was 24.

The LAPD shared the video on Twitter with the caption;

Speakng to KABC after her video went viral, Zamourka said that all she wants is a roof over her head and musical instruments. 

“I am sleeping actually on the cardboard right now, in the parking lot,” she told KABC. “I am sleeping where I can sleep … I have people that feel sorry for me, but I don’t want to be a burden to anybody.
“You know why I (sing) in the subway?,” she said. “Because it sounds so great.”


Some Twitter users have already reached out to “America’s Got Talent” and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (one of America’s top talk shows) to help publicize her story.
